Vietnam e-Commerce and Information Technology Agency (VECITA) and OMT jointly organized first Online Teaching and Training Skills course for education and training institutions under MOIT
In the first weeks of December 2015, the Vietnam e-Commerce and Information Technology Agency (www.vecita.gov.vn) co-organized with OMT the first Online Teaching and Training Skills courses for educators and trainers coming from institutions under the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), including in-house trainers from VECITA, lecturers from Hanoi University of Industry (HAUI), Viet Tri University of Industry, Thai Nguyen IT and Technology University, Viet-Hung University of Industry, Hung Vuong University, among others.
This ToT course was organized in blended learning format. In the classroom, participants were introduced to the contemporary concepts of online teaching and learning, then practiced on Moodle, the world’s most popular Learning Management System, to design pedagogically sound and highly engaging online content, learning activities, and student assessments. Throughout the training sessions, participants were guided by OMT master trainer Le Lan Huong to online course design and creation by incorporating appropriate roles for faculty and students, choosing technology suitable to the audience, creating and assigning effective summative and formative online assessments, demonstrating the communicative nature of online courses, and following sound online design principles. The training was dynamic, interactive and highly appreciated by participants, who followed up by creating their own e-learning courses on the Moodle system developed by OMT, hosted by VECITA.
Built on the success of this first ToT course, in 2016 VECITA and OMT plan to organize several ToT courses for broader audience of educators, teachers, lecturers who are interested to develop and use more e-learning and blended learning in their classes.
