In April 2009, Ms. Dau Thuy Ha, Chairwoman of OCD visited the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to review the progress of the colloboration between the two organizations.
Meeting was held with Mr. Scott Johnson, MOT Program Coordinator, who introduced the UIUC campus and the various entities involved in the Illinois Online Network, and noted the satisfactory performance of Vietnamese trainers in the Master Online Teacher Certificate program.

Ms. Ha was also received by Dr. Chet Gardner, Vice President for Academic Affairs of University of Illinois, in charge of the university’s flagship Global Campus, the new online campus “for non-traditional and place-bound students, who can gain the academic and career benefits of a University of Illinois education without the barriers of location and scheduled class times”. The University’s Global Campus focuses on developing programs that caters to the multi-cultural needs and expectations of the global student body. OCD can contribute to this process by commenting and suggesting ideas to the Global Campus program from its Vietnamese perspective and experiences. Ms. Ha had a follow-up meeting with Ms Iris Stovall, Director, Instructor Development and Support for the Global Campus to discuss these matters.
OCD fully supports and aligns with the objectives of University of Illinois’ Global Campus, as well as those of ION, to become a national leader in online education, focused on innovation, quality, superior instruction, service, and accessibility.
